Voith Hydro & EMEC – HyTide

Off the coast of Orkney

For the test of Voith Hydro’s HyTide Tidal Turbine, Bauer was contracted to drill and grout the monopile foundation off the coast of Orkney. The most challenging condition: the high seabed current of up to 10 knots. Our bespoke equipment, the BSD 3000, operated from the North Sea Giant, performed as expected and installed the pile within schedule. Another highlight: This project was awarded the "Bauma Innovation Award 2013" in the category “Construction Process”.
